Equine Assisted Therapy

What is Equine Assisted Therapy?

Equine Assisted Therapy is a gentle, supportive way to connect with horses and yourself. Led by our qualified therapists,  sessions involve calm, ground-based activities such as grooming, leading, feeding, or connection time, providing opportunities to engage, practice skills, and support emotional and sensory wellbeing.

Horses are highly intuitive, naturally responding to our emotions, body language, and energy. This makes them excellent partners in therapy, supporting children and adults with a range of needs, including anxiety, stress, low mood, sensory challenges, or difficulties with confidence and self-awareness, helping them build trust, increase emotional awareness, and feel more grounded.

Dementia-Friendly Equine Therapy Sessions

We offer gentle, one-to-one equine therapy sessions designed for individuals living with dementia or similar conditions. These calm, supportive experiences take place in a peaceful outdoor setting that is wheelchair accessible.

Sessions are unhurried and tailored to each person, allowing time to relax, connect with nature, and engage in ways that feel comfortable and enjoyable. Whether it’s softly grooming a horse, giving them a gentle stroke, or simply sitting nearby with a cup of tea and biscuits, every visit focuses on comfort, calm, and wellbeing.

Funding may sometimes be available for these sessions. Please get in touch for further information or to discuss individual needs.

Our Values

At the heart of our approach is respect, for both our horses and the individuals who we support. Our horses are autonomous beings, which means they always have a choice. We never force them to take part in activities. Just like us, they have the right to decide how they want to engage, and we listen closely to their communication and body language.

We extend the same respect to all individuals who attend our service, meaning nobody is ever expected to take part in anything they are not comfortable with.

Our sessions involve more than just interaction, they’re about connection. Whether feeding the horses, grooming, practising mindfulness, or simply being outdoors alongside them, every moment is an opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and experience the calm presence of these intuitive animals.
