Nature -Based Occupational
Therapy

Nature Therapy at Maverick Therapies offers a unique and transformative approach to health and wellbeing, rooted in the principles of occupational therapy and a deep respect for the natural world. Our practice, EcoSensory Therapy, is designed to support individuals in reconnecting with themselves and their environment through curated, nature-based experiences that promote physiological calm, emotional regulation, and meaningful engagement.

By stepping outside the traditional clinical setting, we harness the inherent therapeutic qualities of Cornwall’s rugged coastline and lush woodlands to facilitate healing that feels both grounded and expansive.

Meaningful & Functional Activities in Nature

Our outdoor sessions offer a range of purposeful experiences that can support the development of everyday skills, confidence, and wellbeing.

What Can Nature-Based Occupational Therapy Support?

Nature offers a rich and ever-changing sensory experience: the sound of birdsong, the texture of bark and leaves, the scent of the earth, the warmth of the sun, and the feeling of the breeze. These experiences can provide opportunities to develop sensory awareness, explore individual sensory preferences, support emotional regulation, and strengthen our connection with the world around us.

Our approach is person-centred, with activities adapted to individual needs, interests, abilities, and therapeutic goals. We provide opportunities for exploration, choice, and participation, allowing each person to engage with nature in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful to them.
